What Shows I'm Watching Right Now!

I'm not a binge-watcher when it comes to television. More often than not I'll reach the second or third series, get bored during one scene in one episode and stop watching for weeks or even months. I'm so, so bad at it, which is completely ridiculous for somebody who loves watching TV shows as much as I do.

So anyway, today I've decided to compile a list of what I'm currently watching - maybe it might inspire you to watch one or some of the shows I love so much!

Currently watching on Netflix:

1. Stranger Things
I'm currently on episode 2 of season 2 so no spoilers in the comments please!! I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be watching this if I hadn't been persuaded to by my colleagues to do so. I think everybody's started watching it because they've been persuaded by colleagues or peers, Alex (my boyfriend) has too. I find it quite difficult to watch American shows, there's something about British shows that grab me and keep my attention far longer, but this has kept me entertained more than I expected. It's definitely a 'must watch' just like Game of Thrones else you won't have any idea what everybody around you is on about. The characters are probably the best part of the show for me and I like that it makes me jump at times. I'm not so sure on the storylines, but for some strange reason they still made me get through season 1 pretty quickly!

2. Being Human
Being Human is pretty old now, I think it started airing nearly ten years ago or something ridiculous, but I started watching because who cannot resist Aidan Turner. I thought it was a bit cringy at first, but now I've got into it it's definitely the best supernatural show I've watched. It's very British. It's just not comparable to something like The Vampire Diaries, despite the themes and genre being pretty much the same. There's just typical British humour added into it and that just makes me love it even more. Again, I'm only on season 2 so far but this is one I'm not going to stop watching. I have however been told to stop watching once the cast is changed - I think that's at the end of season 3? And I will abide by that because I couldn't cope with a cast change, these three main characters are fantastic together! But I'll see these characters until the end.

3. Poldark
Let's not talk about my obsession with Aidan Turner, we're just going to completely ignore that. This is perhaps not under the right section - I watched the 1st season on Netflix and then was like WHAT'S HAPPENING when after the INSANELY GOOD season 1 finale came to an end and started suggesting other shows for me to watch. You guessed it, they only have the 1st season on there. I bought the 2nd season but I just find shows so much easier to watch when they're on an app, so I'm currently on the 2nd season of this show too. Aidan and Eleanor are just fantastic, as are the rest of the cast. It's really beautifully written and filmed.

Currently watching elsewhere:

1. The Apprentice
I don't watch much reality or talent related television anymore (I even gave up bake off when it changed hosts/channels) but I can't help myself with The Apprentice. It's just so entertaining and I really get into the tasks, not to mention I always have a favourite contestant. Last year I really wanted Grainne to win, but this year my current favourite contestants are Jade, Sarah & Harrison - I think. I'm also watching 2012's series too even though I know who wins. I only started watching the show last season so I'm going back and catching up on what I've missed, I like it that much! If you want a bit of light entertainment then you can have a watch on the iplayer (if you're from the UK).

2. Neighbours
I always have to be watching a soap opera. I haven't not watched a soap since I was around fifteen. I wouldn't say I watch it every day, I really don't have the time to, but when I do have a spare moment I often pop it on. There's something about it that I like better than British Soaps. I know I said I'm a big fan of British TV, but I've also always loved a bit of Australian TV too. I suppose it's just American TV that I struggle with.

3. Skam
I didn't think I'd get into Skam because well, it's not in English. I thought that would take away from it but it really doesn't, so long as the subtitles are there. I'm only on season 2 of that too (okay I suck at this TV show watching thing) but the episodes are so short that it's easy to squeeze them into your day. It's often compared to the UK's show Skins. It is similar, but quite a lot more light-hearted in my opinion. It's a shame they had to cancel the show in the end.

Currently re-watching

1. Taskmaster
I can't stress enough how much everybody should head over to Dave/uktvplay online and watch this show!!! If you love British comedians then you just can't not watch this. It is ridiculously funny. The show is literally just British comedians - and presenters on occasion - doing ridiculous tasks. So many fantastic people have been on it including Mel Giedroyc and Noel Fielding. It's my number one favourite show, it really doesn't matter how many times I watch the episodes, I never get bored of it - it's just brilliant!

2. And Then There Were None
I started re-watching this last night. It's basically a mini-series that BBC did a couple of years ago, based on one of Agatha Christie's novel's. This is actually why I'm watching Poldark and Being Human, because I found Aidan through this and it turns out he's amazing in all his shows. But this was just perfectly pulled off and I recommend it to absolutely everyone. It was very popular, but I still didn't see enough people talking about it so please find a way to watch this, it's fantastic. They tend to do something like this every Christmas now but this year's has been pulled because of Ed Westwick and I'm gutted - especially as it was going to have Eleanor Tomlinson in.

3. Josh
We're back to the comedy shows again! Josh is another show Alex and I will watch over and over again. The 3rd season aired just a few weeks back and it was possibly the best season yet. If you like a bit of British humour then this is another good one to give a watch. All episodes are on iplayer (I think) and Geoff is definitely the best character!

Let me know what you're watching at the moment. I'd love some show recommendations so I can decide what to watch next!

  3. I am a movie freak, although I have not really watched much British movies or series. I watch Australian series though, like Wenthworth and The five. Stranger things is awesome and it meets up with the hype around it. I think I would love to see Being human though, I have seen the trailer before but never watched the series. I am currently watching season 7 of the walking dead and season 1 of tThe Punisher. Thanks for your list, maybe I will check them all out one day.

  6. I think that with Stranger things, and Game of Thrones they have become cultural touchstones so it's something you can talk about at the water cooler at the office. So definitely must see things if you want to contribute to conversation. I do want to see the Agatha Christie And Then There were None as my daughter and I just saw Murder on the Orient Express and she loved it.

  7. This is a great selection - will def need to check out Josh - can't have enough comedy in your life, ya know? We also love sci-fi-fi and fantasy, so any thing from Marvel (Inhumans, Agents of Shield)or super heroes (super girl, flash) is wonderful and exciting.

  10. Ahh I definitely want to catch Stranger Things! I'm rubbish with catching up on TV shows, I usually stick to the usual programmes I like; X Factor, I'm A Celebrity, Hollyoaks etc. I don't have Netflix, literally about two billion years behind everyone else haha <3
